Limewire Owes $1 Billion!?

Once upon a time, there was a world where EVERYONE would have to buy one album just to hear one song. Then the technology got better and computers made everything easy. You can now listen to a song from an album without having to buy the album. A group of musical Robin Hoods came into play. They wanted to share music so that everyone could hear it and have it. But then a group of rich meddlers decided to make a company called RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). They wanted to “protect” artists’ money and music and believed that if we “peasants” wanted to hear music, we should buy it.

Although that is a VERY rough description of what’s going on right now, it pretty much tells the whole story about how the rich get richer and the poor… Well just don’t get much out of it.

Yeah sure, you can argue that the music artists make is “THEIR” work and they worked hard for it. Or you can also say that artists are workers like you and I trying to make a living and feed their families. But consider this, how many Usher’s, Lil Jon’s, Michael Jackson’s have filed for bankruptcy or said they don’t have money so they live in a 1st floor apartment paying $31 per month?

Artists make, what would take me a lifetime to earn in sweat and blood, in one concert about a million dollars, depending how famous that artist is. And for those known/unknown artists that aren’t that famous, they make about a thousand to ten thousand dollars per concert. PSH! I wish I could make that money working at a Mexican restaurant.

The RIAA really is just a joke. They say that they fight for the rights and protect songs made by artists. But my neighbor sings and makes his own songs, are his protected to?

In the the end, RIAA wanted Limewire to pay $1.5 trillion (that’s $750 per copyright infringement multiplied by 200 million “estimated” occurrences of copyright infringement). Morons.

Who is Justin Bieber?

When it comes to cool artists (cool being the bottom of the acceptable list), I know mostly all of them. Justin Bieber rings just crickets in my head. I didn't know him when I decided to post this so before I posted this and bash him, I looked him up on Wikipedia.com for more info on him.

Turns out that he's a bastard child, no offense to him but more for his father. He's dad up and left before Bieber was born. Mommy worked as a single mother in a low wage job like the 70% of single mothers in the USA. Bieber taught himself to play drums, piano, trumpet, and guitar. When the kid turned 12, he won second place in a singing contest singing to Ne-Yo's "So Sick". His mom put up that video and some others on YouTube for friends and family to see... Some high up there dude with the music industry clicked on Bieber's video, "by accident" and he realized there was money to be made. He got the hook up and tracked the clueless kid down. Once he found him, Scooter Braun, the dude that tracked down Justin, got permission to use the kid and finally sang with Usher. He was 13 when that happened.

In one year a kid taught himself to play 4 instruments, got second place in a singing contest, was stalked, kidnapped and finally realized he had a talent.

He is 16 years old now and annoying! Every kid who has been born from 1995 till now either wants to mate with him, be him, or just wanna touch him. Hey, you can have him! I just don't like the fact that there are millions of kids that HAVE talent but haven't had their links clicked on "accidentally" by some dude in the music industry.

Kudos to the little prick though. I wonder how his dad feels about him now? O_o

Gulf Oil Spill STILL NOT CONTAINED!?

0

Category: , , ,

Ok, forty something days has gone by and I've stayed away from YouTube, MySpace, and Twitter about my personal thoughts on this issue. Because everytime I do rant on about something, it doesn't go my way and it turns to be no biggie.

Now, almost a month and a half has gone by, there is nothing really that has been done about it. 19 million gallons at the best of estimates to 43 million gallons of the worst estimates have been unleashed in the Gulf of Mexico.

All that oil has destroyed the livelihood of many thousands of fishermen, business owners, and recreational parks along Louisiana, Mississippi, and the far west side of Florida. Millions or even billions of dollars are going to be lost in the time it takes to recover and clean all that oil.

While all this is going on, the company, BP Energy, is shy and doesn't know what to do. Running around like a lost dog looking for its home, BP is losing time and money.

I personally believe it's going to take a LONG time to clean up all the oil, with some estimates running up to 50 years to clean ALL the oil. BP has alot on their hands, literally and figuratively speaking.

And as if losing 11 fathers, sons, brothers, friends wasn't enough... I don't like it.

As for Obama, he's another story. There are small groups of protesters saying that he should be fired. If anything, those morons should fire themselves. Obama didn't have anything to do with the blowup and destruction of a multi-million dollar chunk of floating metal. Nature decided to release a hiccup and a burp. Obama, being a president of an increasingly needy population, gave what the majority of American's what they wanted, offshore drilling near America.

But then those people who were trying to convince all of America that offshore drilling is good are just at their houses sitting down on a La-Z Boy nodding their heads. Don't get me wrong though, there are some (few really) that were begging Obama for offshore drilling and are out there trying to help. Kudos to them, there aren't enough.

In the end, I think BP is to blame for the size of the leak and the time it has taken. BP should pay, at least part of, the bill to clean. Obama should set forth sticter guides so that this doesn't happen again. And ALL offshore drilling company's should train and fund for steps to prevent something like this from happening again.

I'm off to wonder in my mind :) Good day all of you.

Daylight Savings Time is when and for what?

0

Category:

Today, March 14, 2010 at 2 AM (2 AM of the date) will be the beginning of Daylight Savings Time or DST.

I am 24 years old and I never knew what it really was and why the time is implemented as such. Personally I don't agree to it but the most powerful people do and do not care what we say :)

DST was implimented to be a time period so that we (American's) can "enjoy" the most of daylight in the summer. Who's bright idea was it? Well the person who invented the bright light bulb of course. Benjamin Franklin believed that we didn't enjoy daylight as much as he believed we should, like spending time out with the family and such, so he did what any powerful man in office would do, force it on us. Decades later we still practice the extra hour as well as other countries in the world now.

What's the point? I don't really know, but I do know that tonight (as I am writing this before 2AM) I'm going to lose 1 hour of sleep just to gain one more hour of the lovely Texas summer heat and sunshine.

I believe that DST is just a waste of our time but I really look forward to Standard Time as I get back what was taken from me!

I'm going to leave you with this quote from an official government website that backs DST all the way...

One of the biggest reasons we change our clocks to Daylight Saving Time (DST) is that it reportedly saves electricity.
- The California Energy Commission

:) Have a great day.
