People don’t like the fact that fertilized eggs are being used for testing. But the thing is that this testing of cruel proportions came out of need. People get cancer, and science is there to come up with a cure. People are born with a disease, science comes to the rescue again. But in this case, it is preventable.
Science and researchers are joining forces again to use stem cells to make something new, while kinda destroying something that could have been. Researchers are currently undergoing the possibility of “making” blood. Yes, you read correctly, making blood. This form of blood will be obviously synthetic because of the fact that it has, was, will be made in a science lab.
As you know, stem cell research is highly controversial because of the way it is done. It is made be creating a human embryo and then using the cells inside that embryo to create new cures. A life for a life. I spoke to one of my friends about this issue and all he had to say was that “destroying for science is still killing a life.” He does have a point I have to admit.
I do have alot to rant on about this issue but I’m not really going to do that. I’m just going to put up what I’ve found. In a quote from the site I found this information from, it says:
“While stem cell research is heavily criticized by some and strongly supported by others, doctors say that obtaining such blood is absolutely necessary, given the fact that less and less people come into the hospitals to donate some. And, when they do, they only give it to their relatives, when they are in dire need.”
This time I see that step cell research has finally be used for a need and not out of curiosity.
Pros for having synthetic blood grown from stem cells are as followed according to me…
- A nearly endless supply of blood.
- A perfect match or blood (no more guesswork)
- No more dizzy people walking out of a blood bank.
- Killing of a possible future Hitler.
Cons that I have found are as followed…
- Too much blood supply, too much waste.
- Killing of a possible world leader.
As you can tell, I don’t have much of a mind to think of things upfront. But I hope these scientists use this research for good and not for bad. It sure will help tens, if not hundreds of millions of people around the world.
