Well it's catching on. Not the way I had hoped, but another question is being raised about an annoying MySpace IM feature. I'm sure some other people in this great world have blogged about this, what I'm talking about is the "MySpace Now" box. I have sent MySpace a few inquiries about it receiving basic responses. A funny one that I got from the MySpace support team was one telling me that my feedback is "important" without the quotes.
Well, here I am 2 in the morning sitting here typing this blog. The question that is being raised I found were from comments on my previous MySpace blog. Yahoo, MSN, even AOL give their users the choice to display or not to display a certain window after sign-in. MySpace IM is the only "popular" messenger program known to me that fails to have this choice. Failure to include this makes some users annoyed, not naming any people, me.
I'm sure if you are reading this, you more likely are a MySpace user at least. That means that you've also got the following message from Tom, MySpace.com founder...
"Hey Everyone, MySpaceIM with Skype will be unavailable for a few hours on: Tuesday, June 24th 12am – 4am PT
Sorry you won’t be able to log into our IM network during that time, but rest assured we’ll get it back online ASAP!
Tom"
Hmm, did enough people read my last article and press MySpace about it? I'd love to think my blog is that popular. I don't think MySpace will add the choice in their messenger to remove it at user request. They need money to run the site and ads give them money. The "MySpace Now" box has a huge ad, not huge, huge, but a pretty annoying sized ad in it. Technically you can't really do anything with that box other than close it, see your display pic, look at their latest ads, or go to your profile. Pretty annoying if you ask me...
On June 24, the maintenance will begin according to your time zone. If you live in the Eastern time zone, it will begin around 3AM. In Central, 2AM. Mountain time, 1AM. And well obviously in Pacific time 12AM. It's scheduled to last about 4 hours.
We'll see "IF" they add the choice, but I don't think they like the idea of giving us the choice to have the annoying box from popping up... Tweet This
