Obama said on Monday, "What we are asking is difficult […] it will require unions and workers who have already made painful concessions to make even more. It will require creditors to recognize that they cannot hold out for the prospect of endless government bailouts." Big words make big worries to General Motors (GM) and Chrysler as they go deeper into debt. On top of that, the Canadian branches of GM and Chrysler are pulling back their plan to help out both companies, offering loans to help GM and Chrysler maintain payrolls.
This automotive crisis is getting more real to American’s. More likely this slowly begins to mean that no more GM or Chrysler, which includes vehicle makes like: Pontiac, Chevrolet, GMC, Chrysler, Dodge, & Jeep makes, might be made anymore… Or at least will be made from well known names like GM and Chrysler.
Today as this post is being written, the Wall Street stock are also showing a huge slump (not that big overall but big from the past few days). The DOW is DOW(N) 278.93 points. America is also on the edge of seat waiting to see if GM and/or Chrysler will crumble or when they do.
I’m an American who works for an American company and I also drive an America car, so my eyes are peered deep into this evolving issue. I’m still not sure though if the American government should bailout two of the “Big Three.”
On one last note, there are talks of a merger between Chrysler and GM. If this merger happens, it means big good news of the two American companies for everyone.
